About our exhibit.

In the routine of daily life, it’s easy to become desensitized to our surroundings. Our commute becomes bland, our neighborhood scenes ordinary and expected!

If you were to see it with new eyes, what beauty would you find in the everyday occurrences? Once we begin looking for it, beauty exists around every corner, and suddenly the ordinary becomes extraordinary. ! We now call to the attention the art in the ordinary and the mundane authenticity in our lifetime...

Caged in the city Bedazzled by the ever-growing Dar es Salaam city centre, this view captures all its aspects. The trendy high-rise blocks, the colonial developments and its communal synergy create food for thought about the position of our every-day lives.  Location: City-centre, Dar es Salaam Photo by Mufaddal Nagree

Honest transition In the bustling heart of Msasani, Dar es Salaam, a street is undergoing serious transformation. Mandazi Road is exemplary of the realities and struggles of the city resulting from the increasing demands of urban growth. Take a drive through the street at present and you can’t help but notice the transition. Location: Msasani, Dar es Salaam Photo by John Paul Senyonyi

Intimate introversion A child captured in her playful, yet shy moment of excitement. Her favourite books are all at arms length and the architectural touch of the shelf makes it an interactive, distinct space for the child. Location: Residence in Masaki, Dar es Salaam Photo by Mufaddal Nagree

Mundane ingenuity As most spaces are affected by human interventions and actions, a combination of the different human perceptions in time can result in a piece of humour. This building’s façade tells a story frozen in time that in its entirety becomes significant. The numerous, varying materials and its proportions all capture a wonderfully frozen piece of art. Grammar of ornament In an open span space, the roof structure that enables this dominates in its stature. With the touch of the ornament it gives it life and a subtle touch of comfort to its users. Location: Upanga, Dar es Salaam Photo by Mufaddal Nagree
